Making the Jumpsuit - My Experience

I found the collaboration dificult at first as I've never worked with anybody elses design before and had to compromise on my own so I did find it strange at first. As more and more time went on I actually found it useful working alongside somebody else, if I hit a problem we had two minds rather then one to try and figure out a way around it. We could also brainstorm about ideas for fastenings, pockets, sleeves, e.t.c. and it was actually quite good to do this with somebody other than myself.
The actual jumpsuit part I found challenging, the pattern cutting was ridiculous. I had my first pattern cutting lesson in October so for me to be sat there in February and expected to cut a whole pattern for a jumpsuit (which me and Alicia had made partcularly difficult without realising) was a massive step forward for me. We had something like 40 individual pattern pieces and I had to draft all of these and then trace them off, cut out and add seam allowance to each piece. This was a lengthy process.
When it came to actually making the jumpsuit all the individual pieces were confusing but we had numbered them to make it easier for ourselves. I found every day challenging and we faced new problems all the time on this (such as the zip, which I go into more detail in the construction post) but we got through it and have a jumpsuit at the end of it so I'm happy and I'm proud.
I made a lot of mistakes on this jumpsuit but I have learnt from every single one of them and I am more prepared heading into my second year now. I will not make those mistakes again and feel as though I can only improve on what I have acheived on this module. I'm looking forward to my second year and I am excited to start!
